Learning Fl Studio can be confusing if you don’t know much about music software. Since most people usually start with Fl studio, some basic tutorials on how to use the program may be useful. It may seem daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy.

This is an extensive video tutorial covering the basics of FL Studio in great detail. The first ten minutes are devoted to discussing the various versions of FL Studio, so if you want to skip this part click ahead to around 10 minutes 30 seconds. This tutorial is a great way to really get handle on all the options and capabilities of the program.

3. FL Studio Tutorial 1 – The Basics
If you prefer a written tutorial, then this tutorial is a great option. This provides a very basic explanation of the step sequencer, the mixer, piano roll and other important features of FL Studio. It’s relatively short and provides a lot of screen shots with explanations, which makes it easy to understand.

This short tutorial is a simple explanation on how to make a simple beat. This video concentrates on R&B, Rap style beats. This video also shows you how to create a simple drum beat and create a catchy melody to go on top of it.

2. How to Create Trance Music in FL Studio – Tutorial
Since I included two tutorials that focused on creating hip hop beats, I was sure to include a good trance tutorial. This tutorial by DJ Tonic shows you how to make a simple techno beat and how to use effects to manipulate the sounds. He also goes into some detail on how to pick appropriate samples for your drum beat. The annotation on this video can be distracting so, I would turn them off before viewing.

This is a slightly longer tutorial that shows you how to make a simple hip hop beat. It goes into greater detail than most of the tutorials on how to use the piano role to orchestrate melodies.
